RH&A partner takes it to the pavement in support of Boston Children’s Hospital
In many ways, the last year has felt like a marathon for RH&A partner Margi Jakubowski and her family — but especially for her daughter Sophia. Shortly after her first birthday, Sophia became very ill. Her body began to fail her. It took dozens of doctors from two different hospitals over six months and nine hospitalizations to find the source of her illness.
Gathering inspiration from her daughter and her fight, Margi (in conjunction with her lifelong friend, Sara) joined forces with the Miles for Miracles team at Boston Children’s and accepted the challenge to run the New York City Marathon on November 1st in support of the hospital — to honor her daughter as well as her primary place of care.
Together, the running pair was able to raise over $31,500 for Boston Children’s Hospital, which helped greatly impact the lives of many well-deserving children just like Sophia. Boston Children’s is a world-class institution and although Margi and her family live out-of-state, they’ve felt so lucky to have this invaluable resource within driving distance. Their lives have been forever changed due to the help they’ve received from Boston Children’s and Margi hopes that Sophia’s story and her determination to help will inspire future contributions to the hospital.
